Waypoints Opportunities for Change Program

A free 15 week Group Program for those who
have used aggression in a relationship.

About the OFC Program

OPPORTUNITIES for CHANGE

The Opportunities for Change program promotes the notion that we can experience genuine change in ourselves, especially in regard to stopping aggression and the use of abuse, as we become more affirming of who we are as a person. If we are going to change how we are, then we need to start thinking something better about who we are. Taking time to reflect on our values, and what is at the root of behaviors we regret, can help us form new self-beliefs and positive patterns of thought. These bring change and greater relational fulfillment to our lives.

More about Waypoints

Serving the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo since 1982, Waypoints is a social profit organization working to end domestic-family violence, sexual assault, abuse and homelessness in our region.

In the mid-1970’s, a group of local families would take in women and children who were victims of domestic abuse and provide them with shelter within their own homes. This group evolved into the Fort McMurray Family Crisis Society established in 1982 to provide services for individuals affected by family violence. In 1987, Fort McMurray Family Crisis Society first opened its doors to Unity House; a complex with nine bedrooms. After 36 years of addressing the needs of those fleeing family violence under the FMFCS banner, we underwent an extensive rebranding to better represent our values, vision and purpose, thus Waypoints was born.

Waypoints continues to advocate for the protection of each person’s basic human right to have a safe home and to be a part of our community without fearing for one’s own safety.

Our brand goal is to make Waypoints a nationally recognized social profit organization, especially known for our trauma-informed, evidence-based quality of care for those we serve.
